Behind every Great Driver, there is a team pushing them to the front. Ival Cooper may have had the "Heavy Foot, but Chicken McCombs put the power in his Hot Rods. Chicken McCombs was the builder/owner of the 631 and the 248 that Ival drove.

I have always been of the impression, the car builders, crew chiefs and crew workers are actually the silent winners.

I never thought about it that way but You are correct. Dad built the motor and setup the car. He never got a lot of of the spot light from winning. Didn't really want that. He worked hard and took a lot of pride in having the fastest car.

A friend of mine who is the crew cheif of one of my favorite drivers and I was talking about that one time. He spends untold hours working on the car, has stuck with the driver for years, and not alot of people know his name, but most anyone would know the drivers name. Like your dad he is happy with that, but I always think about HIM when I hear of the car/driver doing good ;D Here's to all the crew chiefs #ShowLetter# ;D
