This is a picture of Armond Holley with the Workman's #11 Super Modified taken in the early 1970's. Armond Holley left home (Columbus MS) at the age of 17 to start his racing career. The boy just loved to go fast. Armond was Nationally known for driving asphalt supermodifieds. At Jackson International Speedway he drove the orange and black #44 Chevelle of Bobby Harrell. After the asphalt super modifieds phased out here in the southeast, Armond moved up to the Northeast and then to the Midwest to drive Super Modifieds to include the rear engine supers built by Alabama builder Bill Hite. In 1967 he even drove a few races with the big boys in the NASCAR Grand National Series.

Based on the tire sidewalls and the truck in the background it's probably late '60's. Notice too that the car is set up for a longer race than a normal 30 or 50 lap feature, it has the long-range tank fitted here.

Gearhead15 you are good !! This picture was taken after a 200 lap race I think in Memphis. Armond won the race as you can tell by the smile on his face.
