Week 10 Atomic Motor Speedway-OSAS 5-6-06
We were supposed to have a double header this week but rain cancelled our Friday night show at Crossville, Tennessee. On two or three day shows we have a church service for those who travel and can’t get to their home church. We continued with the plans and held the Church service at 4:30 p.m. The turn out was incredible for a one day show with over 6 drivers and about 45 people. Steve Smith the local driver of the #3 Super Late Model sang a wonderful medley of 4 classic hymns as we worshipped and praised God. I preached on “Real Life” using many verses out of John and I John all of which showed Jesus as Life. They included; Water of Life, Bread of Life, Fruit of Life, Resurrection & Life, Spring of Life, Grace and Faith of Life, Eternal Life, Light of Life, and others. Then we looked up 6 mentions of the phrase “Born of God” and gave everyone 4 birthmarks that those that are Christians, (born of God), should have to know for sure they are Saved. They included; Omitting Sin, Only One love, Obeying Commandments, and Overcoming the world. Many seeds were planted and we were able to give away many Christian materials. At the drivers meeting we spoke of cleaning cars. As I washed mine that day it amazed me that it could get so dirty since last week when I cleaned it. Speck by Speck the dust covers everything, and piece by piece the trash piles up. I realized that cleaning cars is a way of life not just a one time thing. The race cars have a weight limit of 2300 pounds they can go higher but not lower. If a car gains weight it becomes slower. As the drivers go through hot laps the dust piles up speck by speck and the mud gets heavy as each clod sticks to it. Sin is the same way in our daily lives. We want to clean it up with just one prayer. Thought by thought sin covers our hearts and attitude by attitude it piles up until we are weighed down and separated from our God. Asking forgiveness for sin is a way of life not just a one time event. I read from 2nd Chronicles where God said, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. I expressed the importance of not letting sin pile up for even a day. I prayed for the drivers, crews, fans, and track safety and officials and asked that God would forgive each who asked boldly for forgiveness. I thanked God for sending Jesus to die on the cross and that allows us to ask forgiveness without a priest, pastor, or chaplain needed to ask for us. God blessed the night with safety for all on the grounds including the driver who flipped his car and totaled it. Continue to pray for: Matt’s healing and endurance, those who have lost loved ones, those facing marital problems, and for D.R.O. and the funds to continue serving, teaching, witnessing, counseling, and planting seeds. All our thanks and love to you who so faithfully pray and support us.
