Week 16 Tazewell Speedway, TN 6-24-06
It was nice to be close to home this week. I was able to talk with Dusty and his wife a good bit before the races. Dusty is the one we have been praying for since May who was trapped in his flipped and burning race car. His burns are healing nicely and he is ahead of doctors schedules. They both agree it was God and answered prayers that have brought him this far. I walked the pits and passed out miniature NASCAR tins with mints in them to the drivers and crew members and to their kids we handed out gummy candies and are remaining toys. Many prayer requests were given and many answered prayers were proclaimed giving God the Glory. At the drivers meeting we brought up the many requests from last week and how God has not only answered but how he is working in lives since the trials and troubles. In Job 14:1, the Bible says that, “man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.” I shared that trouble comes in all sizes, from small irritants to life-threatening crises. They go from loosing a $20 bill to loosing a loved one, from the breakdown of our car to the breakdown of our health. When trouble adds up it can push us to a breaking point. I told the story of Job and how in a day he lost just about everything. Job felt as though he was a righteous man, but if so why was all this happening to him. He said if I hold my tongue I perish, 13:9. I explained it another way; When Solomon built the temple there was absolutely no loud noises made. Sure it had mega rock and marble and cedar wood. Those items were measured, cut, carved, and shaped right where they were found. That way when the pieces were brought into the temple they were simply fitted to where they were supposed to be. For Christians, we face the trials, tribulations, and troubles here on earth where we are. They measure our hearts, cut us to proper form, and whip us into shape to serve our God given purposes. All the requests we have been praying for are similar to Holy wake-up calls for each person involved. To mold, to build character, to put us back on the right road, to glorify God. In heaven there will be no pain, suffering, death, tears, worry, or fear because God finished those parts so they will fit perfectly in heaven. We must never hit the snooze button but we should always ask God, what would you have me learn from this? What would you have me to do during or after this? What am I missing to follow your will? Who am I to help through this trial? I pray that I’m always in God’s Will so that I’m not in his Way!
I closed in prayer and God answered with a safe night of racing and nice weather. In the tower I shared a shorter version of the above devotion and prayed for many requests that I will ask you to join me with:
Dusty and Sam --Continued healing
Earl, Rusty, Al, and John---Health
Duayne, Jeremy and Matt—re-habilitation process
Melissa, Wanda, Ed, Mike, and Roger---As they go through Cancer treatments
Roger---Health and recovery from 6 bi-passes
Kim----Recovery to poisoning
Chase—healing and God’s direction
Many who have lost loved ones
Several with marital and financial problems
DRO Ministry for wisdom, guidance, financial and prayer support
