Anger: A feeling of displeasure resulting from injury, mistreatment, opposition, etc., and usually showing itself in a desire to fight back at the supposed cause of this feeling. (Webster’s Dictionary)
It happens so quickly. In an instance some go from feeling great to feeling anger. The littlest thing can set them off. It is an emotion that is hard to control for many. We see that everywhere. Just watch the news. Chances are you will hear a story of someone who committed a crime out of a sudden burst of anger. Some get so enraged, that they have no control over themselves at all. I have heard stories of people that actual blacked out and fainted from being so angry. Anger is one of Satan’s destructive weapons. He uses it a lot, and many give into it. God tells us in (Ephesians 4:31-32) Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. He tells us in (Matthew 5:22) But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. For a simple thing as an emotion, you will be judged.
Anger in our spirit takes away from the Holy Spirit. Anger does not have to be against someone; it can just be against something. Does that make it better? NO. Emotions lead to actions. It can cause you to sin before you even realize that you are angry. It is amazing that this message came to me today. I have had moments of angry with my wife and daughter the last couple of days for no apparent reason. The littlest thing, I found fault with. I have been so focused on a few things lately and I have not spent the time I should, focused on God and his teaching. I truly believe that when Satan can find an opening he will use it to his advantage and he did with me.
(James 1:19-21) My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
