Dark times. We all have dark times in our life. These are times when things are going bad and seem to be getting worse. These are time when it seems as if everything around you is out to get you. Every time you turn the corner, wham another one hits. You may feel lonely, scared, anger, and you may feel as if God has left you behind and does not care. In these times God is with you even more. God tells us in (Hebrews 13:5) Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. He has a purpose for these times. There is something that he wants us to learn from these times. He is preparing us for something.
This kind of came to mind with the week I was having. I had unexpected visit to the dentist, pulled a tooth and filled another, that cost me some money. I had my washing machine break down right after that. An expense I did not want to have happen. Thinking things were getting better; I got the news that I did not get the job promotion that I interviewed for. Rather down by all that, I had a little spat with the wife. I was on the way to a race the next day when a crown fell off of a different tooth. Another dentist visit $$$. As I am sitting at the track, in a comfortable folding chair, trying to get uplifted by the races, my chair broke and dropped me on the ground, right on my back. Of course there was no one around that saw it, right. To me, this was one of those dark times. But the one real thing that made it one of those times was the job situation. The rest was just one of those things. The job thing bugged me. I really felt like it was mine. I was more than qualified for it and the money would have been really nice. But the more I kept thinking about it, the better I started feeling. I know that I did not get that job for a reason. I do not know the purpose for it, but God knows. I have to trust him and keep walking toward the light.
This is just a tiny dark time compared to what some have or are going through. We have to trust in God when we go through any dark times. He is preparing us for something. There is a reason for it. It may last a long time or it may be a short time. It will last as long as necessary for God to accomplish his purpose. Have faith in Him. Believe that there is a purpose for all of this and that he will carry you through.
